Manufacturing Manager - Warehouse & Transport

Transport & Warehouse Operations Manager

This role is responsible for leading our warehouse and transport teams to deliver safe, efficient, and effective operations. Managing our own fleet of vehicles, the role oversees the movement of products between farms, our site, and customers' depots, ensuring coordination overseeing site operations and warehouse teams to maximise service levels and product availability.

The successful candidate will provide visible, engaging leadership by coaching and developing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. They will lead by example, promoting high standards of health and safety, encouraging open communication, and empowering colleagues to deliver operational excellence.

Building strong relationships with farmers, customers, and third-party providers is essential, alongside driving productivity, cost efficiency, and operational performance. The role requires the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. As our business continues to evolve, the ability to adapt to changing volumes and farm requirements is critical to maintaining first-class service for all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve KPI targets, ensuring on-time, in-full delivery.
    Meet cost per case targets and budgetary goals.
  • Drive productivity, health and safety, and performance metrics
  • Ensure operational and legal compliance, inclusive of management of the Operating Licence & owned vehicle fleet to DVSA standards.
  • Proactive management of Drivers Hours, Tachographs, Vehicle Maintenance
  • Managing our daily fleet optimisation and long term strategy
  • Foster colleague engagement and manage turnover effectively
  • Plan ahead 6-18 months, including talent, strategy, fleet requirements and budgeting
  • Build and maintain key relationships across various stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Management of customer service excellence
  • Implementation and continued development of diversity and inclusion plans.
  • Monitor productivity and cost targets, ensuring alignment with budget
  • Review processes to identify improvements and lead change initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure site-wide compliance. Develop and deliver change programs within the warehouse and across the site.
  • Lead talent reviews and management for chambers, including succession planning.
    End to end management of key suppliers including but not limited to Hauliers, Manual Handling Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance Providers.Work proactively to support the management of storage optimisation across the site for both Raw Materials and Finished Goods.
  • Management of stock accuracy across both Raw Materials and Finished Goods
  • Ensure the movement of stock whilst maintaining maximum standards of picking & loading accuracy and damage reduction
  • Support the onward site growth by defining Transport solutions fit for future use and that enable a wider supply chain
  • Govern the transport routes and included lane rates to ensure collections and deliveries performed are cost effective

About you

  • Experience in fast-paced environments and managing teams.
    Knowledge of logistics and transport operations, health and safety, and employment legislation
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    Ability to champion change, collaborate, and manage stakeholders effective
  • Proven track record in achieving results and driving customer focus
  • in budget management and financial forecast
  • IOSH qualification is desirable but not essential Transport Managers CPC is desirable but not essential.
