At SYOS, we’re building the next generation of autonomous vehicles across air, land and sea .
Our UK team is growing, and we’re looking for a Panel Wirer (Marine) to join our production team in Fareham. This is a hands-on role where your work will directly contribute to the build, testing and delivery of advanced autonomous marine systems.
If you take pride in high-quality workmanship, enjoy working from technical drawings, and want to see the hardware you build go from workshop to operational environment, this could be the role for you.
About the role:
As a Panel Wirer (Marine) , you’ll be responsible for wiring, assembling and testing electrical control panels and associated equipment used across our marine platforms.
You’ll work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings and SYOS build specifications, ensuring every assembly is built safely, accurately and to a high standard.
Attention to detail is critical. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship and understands that quality, consistency and safety matter when building complex autonomous systems.
What you'll do:
- Assemble and wire electrical control panels, distribution boards and marine electrical equipment.
- Cut, strip, crimp and route cables and wiring neatly and professionally.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings.
- Layout, route and terminate cables, looms and harnesses to the required standards.
- Install and connect breakers, relays, contactors, PLCs, terminal blocks, switches and sensors.
- Carry out continuity checks, insulation resistance testing, functional testing and fault-finding.
- Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues and support corrective actions.
- Complete electrical work in accordance with relevant marine regulations and SYOS quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and production records.
- Carry out quality checks on your own work and support quality checks across the team.
- Keep your work area organised and maintain strong housekeeping standards.
- Identify production issues and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Support Lean manufacturing and 5S activities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, production and other disciplines when required.
What you'll bring:
- Time-served or apprenticeship training in a relevant electrical or engineering discipline.
- Proven experience in electrical production, assembly or panel wiring.
- Experience within the marine, boat-building or a related engineering environment is highly desirable.
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification is desirable.
- Experience working with AC/DC systems, motor control, PLC wiring and industrial control equipment.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- A methodical approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of safe working practices and quality requirements.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and working requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance, with BPSS as a minimum .
How you'll work:
We’re looking for someone who:
- Takes ownership of their work and delivers to a high standard.
- Works safely and considers the impact of their work on others.
- Is proactive when they spot a problem rather than waiting for someone else to fix it.
- Is comfortable working in a fast-moving production environment.
- Takes pride in neat, accurate and repeatable workmanship.
- Shares knowledge and supports teammates and new joiners.
- Adapts quickly as priorities, products and processes evolve.
- Looks for better ways of doing things without compromising quality or safety.
Why SYOS?
At SYOS, you’ll be helping build autonomous vehicles designed to operate in the real world. You’ll work alongside engineers, technicians and manufacturing specialists to turn designs into operational systems. You’ll have the opportunity to work on advanced marine technology , contribute to a growing UK production capability and see the direct impact of what you build.
Build it. Test it. Deploy it.
If you’re an experienced Panel Wirer who takes pride in high-quality electrical workmanship and wants to be part of a team building the future of autonomous marine technology, we’d love to hear from you.
