Independent Chair Child Protection Committee, Inverness (Fixed term for 2 years)

Post Title: Independent Chair Child Protection Committee
Location: Home based, but must be able to travel to meetings
Hours oof work: 4 days per month
Duration: Fixed term for 2 years, starting 1st October 2026
Salary: £250 per day for 24 days per year

Job Purpose: To provide leadership and independent scrutiny to Highland Child Protection Committee and give support to the Committee in meeting their functions as outlined in Scottish Government guidance and in the context of national public protection.

Requirements

Relevant professional qualification and/or educated to degree level.

Extensive experience of working at senior management level in local government or other relevant public body (NHS, Police Scotland, senior level in a third sector organisation etc.)

It is anticipated that you will work on average 48 days per year averaging 4 days per month. However, you will be required to be flexible in approach to work.

Experience of chairing complex/multi-agency meetings at senior level

Ability to represent the Committee in an external event.

Ability to work with Chief Officers, CPC members, elected members, NHS Board members and Community Planning Partnership

This position is classified as a regulated role. As such, an Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required depending on your nationality and recent residency history. Specifically, this check will be necessary if you do not meet both of the following criteria:

• You must be a national of the United Kingdom or one of the following countries: Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Greece, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, or Poland.
• You must not have lived or worked in any country outside of the UK or those listed above for a period of three months or more, while aged 18 years or over, within the past five years.
