SEND Teaching Assistant – PMLD & Medical Needs
Location: Wallington, SM6Hours: 9:00am – 3:45pm
Availability: Full-time, part-time, and day-to-day flexible work available
Start Date: September 2026 Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with complex needs and making a positive difference every day? This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced SEND professionals, carers, and parents of children with SEND who have valuable personal experience and a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs. The school supports pupils with PMLD, complex learning needs, medical needs, and a range of disabilities. They are looking for compassionate individuals who can build meaningful relationships with pupils and provide high-quality support within a nurturing learning environment. • Personal SEND experience as a parent or carer is valued and welcomed. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: • Support pupils with PMLD, complex needs, and medical requirements.
• Build strong and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Support communication, sensory development, independence, and wellbeing.
• Assist with personal care, mobility, and medical support where required.
• Help deliver personalised learning activities.
• Encourage pupils to engage, explore, and develop new skills.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team.
• Create a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND is desirable.
• Personal experience as a parent, carer, or family member of someone with SEND is welcomed.
• A caring, patient, and compassionate approach.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to understand individual needs.
• A positive, flexible, and proactive attitude.
• A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist SEND environment.
