Job summary
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children's physiotherapist with an interest in acute and long term paediatric respiratory care. This post will take an operational team lead role in patients who have long term physiotherapy and respiratory requirements to provide a smooth transition between critical care, the wards and community. As a HCPC registered health professional, you'll have gained extensive clinical respiratory experience with children and young people working in an acute children's hospital (including PICU and managing children with long term and complex health needs). You will also have completed a broad base of rotations within an acute hospital setting. Confidence in delivering evidence-based physiotherapy to children and young people is essential alongside experience of participation in an overnight on-call service. The physiotherapists work very closely within multidisciplinary teams, giving a holistic approach to care. Main duties of the job
The post has a lead role in the planning of training and education to rotational staff and staff contributing to the respiratory out of hours service. The ability to recognise training needs and address staff competency is therefore essential. You will provide education, advice, and support to patients and parents/carers and be able to respond to and resolve complaints professionally and effectively with excellent communication skills. You will have line management responsibility providing feedback, support and training to junior staff, students, and assistants. You will have a proven track record leading service developments and quality initiatives. With excellent organisational and problem-solving skills you'll thrive in a busy environment prioritising a busy workload and coping well under pressure. Please note that participation in the physiotherapy respiratory out of hour's service is part of the role. There is comprehensive in-house appraisal system and multiple learning opportunities as the department is actively involved in audit and research. - Broad postgraduate clinical experience in a rotational post, including both in a rehab and inpatient capacity
- Significant experience at a specialist level in the relevant field
- Extensive knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques (in relevant area), including examples of complex clinical reasoning
- Experience of teaching/education including the ability to modify to suit the needs of under-performing staff/students
- Experience of clinical governance including examples of service development, audit or quality improvement
