A forward-thinking 11–18 secondary school in Peterborough is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Business & Economics to lead its expanding Social Sciences provision. The Role
As Head of Business & Economics, you will take full responsibility for the strategic direction, curriculum development and outcomes within the department. You will lead a small but committed team, ensuring high standards of teaching, assessment and student achievement.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing and refining the Business and Economics curriculum across KS4–KS5
• Driving improvements in GCSE and A-Level outcomes
• Line managing and supporting departmental colleagues
• Leading assessment moderation and quality assurance processes
• Promoting subject uptake and enrichment opportunities
• Supporting university and apprenticeship progression pathways
The curriculum emphasises real-world application, financial literacy, analytical writing and structured exam technique. Students engage with contemporary economic issues, case studies and enterprise projects.
The Department
The department sits within a broader Social Sciences faculty and works closely with Psychology and Humanities colleagues. Shared planning and cross-department collaboration are embedded practices.
