Location: King’s Lynn, Norfolk
Why Break? At Break we invest in the future of our staff just as we do for the young people in our services. We strive to provide the highest quality of care, so whether you’re just starting your career in children’s social care or are already qualified, you’ll be supported, recognised and rewarded for your essential part in our vital work.
About the role
We are seeking experienced residential childcare professionals to make a real, lasting impact.
For some young people, the behaviours caused by the trauma they have experienced means they need additional support. Every milestone in our disability services is celebrated and treasured. We can’t promise every day will be easy, but we can promise the sense of pride you’ll feel for the young people you support and care for. Our children’s homes are more than just a place to stay—they are warm, welcoming environments where children and young people who for various reasons, cannot live with their own families can feel safe, cared for, and valued.
About you
As a Children’s support worker, no two days are the same and you will be instrumental in creating a nurturing and supportive environment where young people can thrive and achieve positive outcomes.
You will encourage new experiences and support young people to develop their own identity, confidence, and independence, along with the help and guidance of your colleagues and Break’s therapeutic services.
Day to day you may find yourself planning and taking part in trips and activities alongside learning new skills to help young people overcome communication difficulties.
This role may occasionally involve a physical element helping young people in and out of wheelchairs and using hoists.
You will need to successfully complete a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare within the first 24 months of support work- This will be fully funded by Break and you will be supported by our training team.
*Please note that you must have a full, valid, manual driving licence.
In your role, you’ll have access to the following benefits: • Free, career-enhancing qualifications • A referral scheme offering the same two payments as the golden hello if you recommend a contact who goes on to be employed by Break in care services. (subject to conditions)• Employee Assistance Program (EAP)• Company funded medical cash plan • Access to the Blue Light benefits platform enabling you to access discounts across a range of shops, venues and services (your membership fee will be reimbursed)• Access to multiple Wellbeing initiatives • The opportunity to influence Break’s strategy and direction through our Staff Consultation Forum • And more
Full details of the role, including a job description and person specification can be found within the ‘documents’ section. If you would like to develop your career and make a real difference in a child or young person’s life, use the ‘apply now’ button to be taken to our application site. We reserve the right to interview suitable candidates as they apply. This means the role may close at short notice and without prior warning.
Additional Information People are our biggest asset. We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all backgrounds. The first interview will be a Safe Care/Warner style interview, followed by a formal interview if successful. An enhanced DBS check is required for the role. This will be funded by Break. To comply with OFSTED requirements, you will be asked to provide details of your full employment history. We are happy to consider any reasonable adjustments that candidates may need during the application or recruitment process. If there are adjustments you would like to request, please contact View email address on findajob.dwp.gov.uk. We also offer reasonable adjustments in the workplace. All prospective employees must provide evidence of eligibility to work in the UK as per UKVI guidelines. Further details will be provided if you are invited to interview.
