Estates Manager - Independent School in Brighton
A highly regarded independent school in Brighton is seeking an experienced and proactive Estates Manager to take responsibility for the effective management, maintenance, and development of the school’s estate. This is a full-time, permanent position with an ASAP start, ideal for a strong operational leader with experience in educational or similar environments.

Full-time, permanent senior operational role
The role involves overseeing the day-to-day operation of the school site, ensuring buildings and grounds are safe, compliant, and well presented. You will manage estates staff and contractors, oversee health & safety and statutory compliance, and work closely with senior leaders to support the smooth running of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Overall management of school buildings, grounds, and facilities
Ensuring compliance with health & safety, fire safety, and statutory regulations
Managing maintenance schedules, servicing, and refurbishment projects
Line management of caretaking, estates, and facilities staff
Liaising with contractors and external service providers
Supporting school operations, events, and long-term estate planning
Experience and Qualifications
Proven experience as an Estates Manager, Facilities Manager, or similar
Strong knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance
Experience managing teams, contractors, and budgets
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a busy school environment
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
