Social Worker - Children in Our Care Team

Liquid Personnel is recruiting a Social Worker for its client's Children in Our Care Team in Gateshead.

Our client, Gateshead Council, is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join their Children in Our Care Team. The team works closely with families, carers, and partner agencies to provide stability, security, and opportunities for children to thrive.

As a Social Worker within the Children in Our Care Team, you will play a vital role in supporting looked-after children and young people. Responsibilities will include care planning, permanency planning, and ensuring that children's voices remain central to all decision-making. The successful candidate will benefit from regular supervision, a collaborative team environment, and flexible working arrangements.

What will your responsibilities be?

• Deliver a high-quality statutory social work service to children in care, in line with current legislation and Gateshead Council policies and procedures.
• Build meaningful relationships with children and young people, ensuring their needs, wishes, and feelings inform all aspects of care planning.
• Undertake assessments, care planning, pathway planning, and statutory reviews to promote positive outcomes.
• Work closely with foster carers, residential providers, families, schools, health professionals, and partner agencies.
• Support children and young people to achieve permanence through reunification, long-term fostering, special guardianship, or adoption where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records, reports, and court documentation in line with professional standards.
• Participate in regular supervision and reflective practice with your line manager.
• Contribute positively to team development, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues where needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be successful in this role you must have, 

• Social Work England registration.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Post-qualified social work experience.
• Degree level qualification (or equivalent) in Social Work.
• Experience working with children in care and looked-after children services.
