R oles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023 , where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership . This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above . (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 10 and above (currently £30,030 per annum / £16.50 per hour)

The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members , and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

There are three teams in Development Management. Two teams manage and determine planning and related applications (the Major Applications Team and the Applications Team) and are responsible for the enforcement of planning controls. The third team, within which the Project Officer – Aberdeen City Heritage Trust sits, delivers masterplan, design and historic environment conservation services.

The Aberdeen City Heritage Trust provides grants schemes and other projects to assist in the conservation, enhancement and promotion of the historic fabric of the Aberdeen. The Project Officer will carry out management of the Trust process and monitor grant applications, overseeing its grants scheme and other projects and promoting the aims of the Trust and the historic built environment of Aberdeen City. This will include promoting and monitoring projects and delivering the reporting requirements including risk management. The role has line management responsibility for two ACHT employees

Job Purpose/about the role

The Aberdeen City Heritage Trust provides grants schemes and other projects to assist in the conservation, enhancement and promotion of the historic fabric of the Aberdeen.  The Senior Project Officer will carry out management of the Trust process and monitor grant applications, overseeing its grants scheme and other projects and promoting the aims of the Trust and the historic built environment of Aberdeen City. This will include promoting and monitoring projects and delivering the reporting requirements including risk management. The role has line management responsibility for two ACHT employees 

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

• Relevant degree, post-graduate qualification (or equivalent) in Planning, Architecture, Building Surveying or Architectural/ Building Conservation
• Membership of a relevant professional body such as RTPI, RIAS, RIBA, RICS, IHBC

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

• Experience in project management and financial management.
• Experience in line managing staff (desirable)
• Written and verbal communication and negotiation, including managing conflict
• Collaborative working with peers and stakeholders to achieve objectives
• Analysis of data and information and production of cogent reports
• Managing budgets and banking
• Planning, management or leadership of a small organisation(desirable)
• Use of ICT systems and programmes
