- To provide all medical aspects of pain management.
- Support the wider multidisciplinary team using our biopsychosocial approach.
- To work as an expert autonomous practitioner in an advanced clinical position.
- Responsible fortriaging referrals and for advanced assessment including referral forappropriate investigations.
- To be able to diagnose, where possible, and plan further management ofpersistentpain.
- To be able to collaborate with colleagues in the MDT and within SFT to plan, deliver and evaluate all aspects of the patient journey.
- To be able to collaborate with external colleagues to plan shared care.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Signpost to resources within Primary care and be a closer link between the team and primary care.
- Be accountable for all aspects of own work including the management of patients in your care and take referrals from GPs addressed to aConsultant.
- Outpatient clinics, with consultant supervision whereappropriate
- Usehighly complexanalytical skills to interpret a variety of factors in a patient's presentation, including referral details,investigations and clinical findings.
- Decide management plan for patient to ensure the best outcome, whilst balancing the demands of the treatment on the patient, the preferences and complexities of the patient and Trust efficiency
- Work collaboratively with patients to agree management plans including resources within Pain Management and Primary Care.
- Keep patients, referrers and Primary Care practitioners informed of agreed plans,progressand future possibilities.
- Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time bythe General Medical Council (GMC) andcomply with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice'.
- Attendance at regular MDT meetings.
- Clinical supervision andteachingofresidentdoctorsin pain training.

- The post holder will beallocatedclinician supervision time, from a named consultant pain specialist.
- Prioritise workload efficiently and safely
- Effective planning and organizing of patient treatments and diagnostic examinations

- Ensure any proposed new equipmenttrials,are taken through theappropriate governanceprocess prior to use and that a full financial evaluation is included

Education and Qualifications

- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- Entry on the GMC GP Register
- MBBS or equivalent

- Experience in the Assessment and Management of Persistent Pain Conditions
- Experience of teaching and a commitment to life-long learning and continued professional development
- Formal qualifications in Pain Management
- Experience / interest in service modernisation and improvement
- Interest in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching. Experience of teaching medical and other staff
- Post Graduate qualification in medical education
