Job summary
Working Full time: 37.5 hours per week We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Dietitian interested in paediatrics to join our friendly and supportive team of 5 Paediatric Dietitians and 1 Dietetic Assistant, providing care to children and young people across Cheshire West. This is a Band 6 role, offering comprehensive training and support. Previous paediatric experience is not essential; however, a genuine interest in working with children, and their families is important. Experience in gastroenterology and/or diabetes would be an advantage. We have a strong track record of supporting dietitians moving into paediatric practice, offering a structured development programme with clear competencies. You will manage a varied caseload across general paediatrics, and paediatric diabetes - supporting approximately 175 children and young people, predominantly with Type 1 diabetes. Working closely with the Paediatric Diabetes MDT, you will receive support from experienced colleagues while developing a high degree of autonomy in your clinical practice. This patient-facing role involves working with children and families in hospital, community and home settings. We are seeking an HCPC-registered Dietitian, ideally with recent UK NHS clinical experience. Due to the clinical nature of the post, duties are undertaken on-site. Main duties of the job
This is a clinical role within Children and Family Services, offering a high level of autonomy in managing both your clinical practice and workload, while being supported by an experienced and collaborative team. Your application should outline your recent clinical experience, including any specialist areas of practice, together with details of your qualifications, professional registration and continuing professional development (CPD). The postholder will manage a varied caseload across paediatric services, including general paediatric clinics, dietitian-led coeliac clinics, and multidisciplinary clinics alongside the Paediatric Diabetes Team. The role also includes providing acute dietetic support to the children's ward and delivering education to children, young people and their families following a new diagnosis of diabetes. Additional responsibilities include participation in monthly evening diabetes MDT clinics (until 7.00 pm), delivering Level 3 carbohydrate counting education, and providing structured education programmes for children, young people and their families. An understanding of diabetes technology, including hybrid closed-loop systems, is desirable, with full training and ongoing support will be provided. The post involves travel between the Countess of Chester Hospital and Ellesmere Port Hospital, as well as home visits. Therefore, access to a vehicle with business-use insurance is essential.
