-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Following the successful launch and integration of our Student Progress Advisor team over the last year, we are looking for a dedicated and passionate individual to join this growing high-impact department. As a vital pillar of our Student Services Team, you will play a key role in guiding Year 12 and 13 students to reach their full potential and navigate their academic journey.

Join our Outstanding Sixth Form College with a reputation for Academic Excellence and Pastoral Care; a College where all staff have a shared responsibility to actively promote inclusion, fostering an environment where every individual feels valued, respected and supported in their learning and development, and to identify and remove barriers to participation and learning, so that every student can achieve and thrive.

Key strengths of The Sixth Form College are:

  • ‘Outstanding’ rating from Ofsted

  • Achievement of high grades with excellent value added;

  • Outstanding teaching by a team of experienced and motivated staff;

  • Exceptional levels of support for students both inside and outside of lessons;

  • Innovative use of IT to promote learning embedded as a regular part of normal teaching.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Role:

The Student Progress Advisor will be a key member of our pastoral support team, responsible for up to 11 tutor groups. You will work closely with students to ensure they complete their courses and reach their academic goals while also supporting their personal development. This role is central to improving student achievement and well-being, ensuring students excel both inside and outside the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of communication with parents/guardians of students within your tutor groups;

  • Track and monitor the academic progress of tutees, ensuring they meet or exceed their expected achievement levels;

  • Identify students at risk of underachievement and initiate timely interventions;

  • Monitor attendance and punctuality, implementing interventions as needed to promote consistent attendance;

  • Ensure students maintain high standards of personal conduct in alignment with the ethos of the college;

  • Support student welfare and well-being, offering early help when necessary, and referring safeguarding concerns in line with college policies;

  • Maintain accurate student records using Cristalweb and CPOMS;

  • Deliver group tutorials as part of the core Tutorial Programme, Tutorial+, and The Prospects Diploma;

  • Participate in careers advice and guidance, supporting students with UCAS applications and progression planning;

  • Provide references for students' UCAS applications and progression applications;

  • Assist with careers events such as Getting Ready Day, work experience facilitation, and support the wider college activities including open evenings and parents’ consultation events;

  • Participate in the College’s Quality Assurance Cycle and Performance Management process;

  • Attend training sessions and undertake statutory training as required for the role.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Contract Information:  This post is a term time plus two weeks contract. Term time at the College starts the week after GCSE results day. The additional two weeks required to work will contractually include working two days over A-Level results day, and two days to support enrolment over GCSE results days (for example Summer 2026 these dates are 13th, 14th August and 20th and 21st August 2026). Alongside this there will be a requirement to work some twilight sessions across the academic year to support interview evenings.
