Assistant Team Manager

The starting salary for this full-time, permanent position is 56,439 per annum based on a 36 hour working week.

We are excited to be hiring a new Assistant Team Manager (Social Work qualified) to join our amazing, supportive, and award-winning team based at Epsom General Hospital.

The role offers hybrid working with the expectation to be in the office for a minimum of 3 days per week to support the team with hospital discharges. Our team covers the hours of 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday. Typically, our Assistant Team Managers work from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

We are a busy and diverse team managing hospital discharges across two acute hospital sites, Epsom General and St Helier. We undertake Care Act assessments and support planning, which can include Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest decisions, often following the Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathway. The complexity of our work varies greatly, supporting all adults of the hospital who are Surrey residents with a need for care and support. We always strive to get people back home through a strengths-based and person-centred approach, and support them to live their best lives.

We are a hard-working team based in a fast-paced environment, regularly going up to the wards to meet our clients or visiting them at home after they've been discharged. We work closely with our health colleagues, ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach to discharge planning. There is a supportive culture embedded within the team, and staff step in to assist their colleagues to ensure discharges from hospital are timely.

As one of two Assistant Team Managers, you will support the day-to-day running of a busy, dynamic team, effectively prioritising daily challenges and expectations. You will support the Team Manager to deliver high quality, personalised adult social care. Additionally, a key accountability of the role is developing staff practice ensuring the team you work within is the best it can be.

Your Application

In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours:

• Professional social work qualification and completion of any post qualification practice or training requirements and Social Work England registration
• Significant post-qualification experience, including experience in a social care setting, and excellent understanding of the social care and health agendas
• Applied knowledge of Adult Social Care legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act and the NHS Continuing Healthcare National Framework
• Effective knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults' procedures
• Excellent communication skills that enable you to successfully manage a team and develop effective relationships with examples of when you have provided effective professional supervision to less experienced colleagues
• A track record in inter-agency partnership working
• Strong commitment to achieving positive, strengths-based outcomes that promote maximum community inclusion, and personal choice and control

An enhanced DBS 'Disclosure and Barring Service' check for regulated activity (formerly known as CRB) and the Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be required for this role.

Surrey has both urban and rural areas and candidates will be expected to have a valid driving licence to drive in the UK, access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across a wide geographical area.
