About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and qualified Teacher of Religion, Ethics & Philosophy (REP) to join our dynamic department within a thriving North West London school. This is an exciting opportunity to ignite intellectual curiosity, explore diverse beliefs and ethical frameworks, and foster critical thinking skills in a supportive and stimulating environment.

• Curriculum Delivery:
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and thought-provoking lessons across the REP curriculum, catering to Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11) in line with national requirements.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to cater to diverse learning styles and encourage students to participate in open and respectful discussions.
  • Foster an appreciation for different religions, philosophies, and ethical viewpoints, promoting tolerance and understanding.
• Curriculum Development:
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the REP curriculum, ensuring it aligns with the school's vision, national requirements, and the latest advancements in REP pedagogy.
  • Stay abreast of current trends in religious and philosophical thought, integrating them into your lessons to foster critical thinking and engagement.
• Building Relationships:
  • Build strong and positive relationships with students, encouraging them to explore their own beliefs and values in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to enable students to reach their full potential (individualized learning plans, targeted intervention strategies).
• Extracurricular Activities:
  • Contribute to and potentially lead extracurricular activities related to REP (e.g., debating clubs, philosophy clubs, religious studies societies).
• School Community:
  • Actively participate in departmental and whole-school events, fostering a collaborative spirit and contributing to the wider school community.

The Ideal Candidate:

• A qualified REP teacher with a demonstrable track record of success in engaging students and fostering a love of learning.
• Excellent subject knowledge across Religion, Ethics, and Philosophy, and a passion for exploring these subjects with students.
• Strong pedagogical skills and the ability to deliver innovative and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles.
• A commitment to creating a positive, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that respects all viewpoints.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
