We are seeking a passionate and compassionate Youth Mentor to join our team in Telford , supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to helping young people overcome challenges, build confidence, and reach their full potential . As a Youth Mentor, you will play a key role in guiding and supporting students in both their personal development and educational journey .
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring to young people with SEND and SEMH needs
- Support students in developing confidence, resilience, and positive social skills
- Help individuals overcome barriers to learning and personal development
- Encourage positive decision-making, goal setting, and self-belief
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that promotes wellbeing
- Work collaboratively with teachers, families, and external professionals to implement personalised support plans
- Deliver targeted interventions and activities focused on emotional regulation and behaviour management
What We’re Looking For
- A genuine passion for supporting young people with SEND and SEMH needs
- Excellent communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skills
- The ability to build trust and rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds
- Experience working with SEND or SEMH students in mentoring, youth work, education, or support roles (desirable)
- Empathy, patience, and resilience when working in challenging situations
- A positive and motivating approach that inspires young people to succeed
