We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated pharmacist with a keen interest in paediatrics to join the Pharmacy team at UHSussex. This is a newly developed role aimed at strengthening the pharmacy service provided to the paediatric cystic fibrosis (CF) and respiratory team. The successful candidate will provide clinical pharmacy input for children with CF and its long-term disease-related complications, including pancreatic insufficiency, CF diabetes, CF liver disease and chronic infection, working as a key part of the multidisciplinary team. The role will include the delivery of cross-site pharmaceutical care across inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as liaison with homecare services and budgetary management in line with national standards of care. You will contribute to service development, medicines optimisation and quality improvements, while building experience in collaborative working within clinical teams. There will also be opportunity to develop advanced clinical and leadership skills with support from senior pharmacists In addition, the role offers scope to support the wider Women & Children's service within UHSussex, through contribution to service delivery, gaining exposure to leadership and decision-making processes. This is a fixed term 12-month post, with the intention to secure future funding for a substantive band 8a position. Main duties of the job

- Provide advanced clinical pharmacy support for the paediatric cystic fibrosis service across inpatient, outpatient and homecare settings.
- Provide specialist clinical input in relation to therapies used in the treatment of cystic fibrosis, including CFTR modulators, pancreatic enzyme replacement therapies and complex antimicrobial regimes.
- Work as, or towards becoming an independent prescriber, contributing to the initiation, adjustment and monitoring of treatment within scope of practice.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) working through participation in MDT meetings, ward rounds, clinics and transition of care meetings.
- Provide pharmaceutical advice to clinicians, patients and families.
- Support the development and review of clinical guidelines, protocols and care pathways.
- Contribute to audit, governance and risk management activities.
- Contribute to service development initiatives, including pharmacist-led outpatient clinics, and homecare services.
- Medicines optimisation and high-cost drug spend monitoring, with support from senior pharmacists.
- Support in the supervision, training and development of pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, foundation pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
- Provide support to wider Women & Children's Services, contributing to service delivery and gaining leadership experience.

- You will be responsible for the delivery of expert patient care providing support to the lead pharmacists. This includes development, evaluation and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the UHSx Pharmacy strategy.
- You will contribute to all aspects of clinical governance, including clinical risk and audit.
- As a teaching hospital, education and training is an integral component of all roles encompassing practice supervision of undergraduates, pre-registration pharmacists and the line management and educational supervision of band 6 pharmacists as appropriate.
- We encourage inter-professional learning and have been recognised for educational initiatives such as joint teaching activities with Foundation Doctors.

- Master of Pharmacy degree at a British School of Pharmacy or recognised equivalent
