Principal / Associate Structural Engineer

My Client, a technically strong and highly skilled, Civil and Structural Engineering Consultancy in Birmingham, seek a Principal or Associate level Structural Engineer to join their growing Team. The successful Candidate will be directly supporting the Structures Director and will take a lead role in the Structural Engineering Team. It offers an excellent opportunity to join a Consultancy who is at a very exciting stage of growth!

My Client is seeking an ambitious and technically strong individual who is keen to grow within a business and still further their career. They will provide you with an opportunity to take on expanding responsibilities as you develop into the role and play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of the Business. 

It is essential that you are a Structural Engineer with the ability and desire to lead projects, as this will play a key part in the role of Principal or Associate Engineer. My Client will fully support you in your development across a range of projects, sectors and Clients. 

Role Requirements

• Masters in Civil or Structural Engineering (or similar educational background)
• Chartered with MIStructE or MICE (or relevant institution)
• Recent structural engineering, consultancy led experience
• Prior experience of working within the Midlands market is ideal as it will give you knowledge and understanding of the local market and projects

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

• Technical ownership and responsibility of structural calculations, drawings, reports and structural design documents produced by yourself, or coordinating and reviewing work completed by others
• Analysis of technical problems, assessing the feasibility of proposals and procedures, and devising new approaches / solutions
• Strong building appraisal and report writing skills
• Support Team Members in their own technical development
• Attend site visits to review projects and the construction process
• Present and discuss technical solutions
• Develop fee proposals and project cost estimates
• Follow and contribute to the Business's high standards of project delivery, adding value to schemes they deliver
