Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Tamworth
Salary: £95 - £120 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time Are you passionate about supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs? GSL Education are seeking dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Tamworth . As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA) , you will provide tailored support to help students engage with learning, build confidence, and develop positive relationships and coping strategies. Responsibilities of an SEMH Teaching Assistant: * Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs
* Support students in managing emotions, behaviour, and social interactions
* Assist students in accessing the curriculum and completing classroom tasks
* Implement behaviour management strategies and personalised support plans
* Build strong, positive relationships to encourage engagement and progress
* Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals
* Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
* Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment To be an SEMH Teaching Assistant, what you should have: * Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs is desirable
* CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential)
* A calm, patient, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and behaviour management skills
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour positively and effectively
* A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable students
