About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join a growing finance team based in Bristol. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, and managing statutory and tax reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Control

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records within the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
• Assist in the preparation of annual statutory financial statements.
• Ensure financial reporting complies with relevant accounting standards (FRS102 and IFRS).
• Support period-end close processes and reporting deadlines.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain strong financial controls and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Compliance & Regulatory Reporting

• Prepare and submit tax returns and other statutory filings accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
• Monitor changes in legislation and accounting standards and support implementation where required.
• Assist with external audit processes and respond to auditor queries.

Business Partnering

• Build effective relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
• Provide financial support and guidance to operational teams.
• Ensure financial transactions are correctly understood and accurately recorded.
• Support decision-making through the provision of reliable financial information.

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to the development and enhancement of finance processes, controls, and reporting.
• Support initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, and data quality.
• Promote best practice in financial management and governance.

About You

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Ideally 2+ years post-qualification experience, although strong newly qualified candidates will also be considered.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS102).
• Working knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience preparing management accounts and financial statements.
• Understanding of tax compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
• Experience maintaining general ledger integrity and financial controls.
• Previous experience supporting external audits.
• Strong Excel and financial systems skills.
