We are inviting applications for the role of Clinical Skills and Simulation Manager. Responsible for the design, development and delivery of clinical skills and simulation teaching within all clinical areas, and to identify areas to support effective patient safety through that of inter-professional learning within the Acute Trust.

A key part of this role is to support the University of Buckingham Phase 2 Block leads; supporting and facilitating the undergraduate training programme to achieve their GMC Practical Procedures and deliver skills and simulation to meet the undergraduate curriculum requirements. The post holder will also work closely with the Oxford undergraduate faculty to support this curriculum delivery at MKUH.

Main focus of role is to deliver and manage a training system that ensures that all resident doctors in training achieve the practical skills competencies laid down by the GMC and that their curriculum requirements as set out by NHS England are achieved.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Clinical Skills and Simulation Education
To support the delivery of Clinical Skills for the University of Buckingham Medical students. This requires organising, facilitating, providing equipment for and teaching the students to support their simulation and skills requirements for Phase 2 of their Medical Education which consists of ten hospital-based clinical blocks.

Verifying the students and assessing their competencies in the 32 GMC Practical Procedures, ensuring documentation is appropriately completed and stored on the database developed by the department.

Simulation Service Management
To be responsible for ensuring the regular maintenance of the clinical skills training equipment owned by the department.To be responsible for ensuring the ordering stock control of consumables necessary for the delivery of this type of training, for both the Trust and medical student sessions per year.

Team Leadership and Collaborative Working
To ensure that they are up to date with any new developments, recommendations or guidelines and are competent in the skills that they are expected to provide.To act at all times in a professional manner in accordance with the NMC/MMC Code of Professional Conduct

Service Development, Quality and Improvement
Research and source new equipment & procedures Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Simulation page on the Milton Keynes intranet site.

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential

• Registered Nurse or Midwife
• Educated to degree level
• Working knowledge of undergraduate medical curriculum and RDIT teaching and curricula programmes in NHS
• Knowledge of evidence informed and research-based practice

Desirable

• Post graduate qualification in medical education or simulation based practice or equivalent experience to master's level
