Would you like an opportunity to join a community based nursing team? This post will be working across the city-wide special school nursing service implementing and delivering specialist nursing care in a special school environment. The successful candidate will be required to carry out assessments; provide both planned and responsive clinical care and ensure that local safeguarding policies are adhered to. They will be identified as a role model for the Band 6 Special School Nurses and Enteral Feeding Assistants and will also support education staff and offer advice and support to parents and pupils. We would welcome applications from enthusiastic committed children's nurses with proven clinical experience who have excellent communication skills and are able to manage their time effectively. An understanding of the needs of children and young people with disability and/or additional health problems is essential. You will be working 22.5 hours per week, on a term time only contract and will be required to move around to different bases across the city. Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide leadership, support and advice to Special School Nursing Service across the city and will undertake a key role in providing support and training to school staff and guidance to parents. Additionally, the post holder will act as an expert resource to other professionals and agencies as regards the care of special needs children. The Special School Nurse Team Leader will work with the Clinical Lead for School Nursing, Service Manager and the Head of Specialist Nursing Service to plan and develop the service. The role of the Team Leader will include responsibility for the day to day operational management and co-ordination of a Special School Nursing team including developing, implementing and evaluating incorporating programs of care this will include a comprehensive service offered to children in Special Schools including the core offer which includes:-
