Lecturer in Motor Vehicles
Ready to shape the next generation of talented Motor Vehicle Technicians?
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Oaklands College for a passionate and knowledgeable Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to deliver high-quality teaching and learning across our Motor Vehicle programmes from Level 1 to Level 2. You’ll be joining Oaklands at an exciting time of growth and transformation, helping learners develop the technical skills, confidence, and industry knowledge needed to thrive in the modern automotive sector. The Oaklands Education Group is a vibrant and diverse learning-centred community, providing transformational education for over 100 years. Since opening our doors in 1921, Oaklands College has empowered students with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to achieve their ambitions and make a positive contribution to their communities. As we continue our journey of innovation and excellence, we are seeking a dedicated Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to play a key role in shaping future automotive talent. This role contains a £5000 Market supplement on top of your annual salary.
Your Day to Day Impact
As a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle, you will inspire and support learners across a range of Motor Vehicle programmes, helping them develop both the theoretical understanding and practical skills required for successful careers in industry. Through engaging and inclusive teaching, you will create a positive learning environment where learners are encouraged to achieve their full potential. You will deliver and assess specialist units covering vehicle inspection, service and maintenance, engines, chassis systems, wheels and tyres, braking systems, steering and suspension, electrical systems, health and safety, and workshop practice. Drawing on your technical expertise, you will bring automotive concepts to life through innovative teaching approaches, practical demonstrations, and industry-relevant examples that prepare learners for employment and further study. A key aspect of your role will be planning and developing high-quality schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning resources that support excellent learner outcomes. You will monitor learner progress closely, provide meaningful feedback, set challenging but achievable targets, and offer effective personal tutoring support that enables students to overcome barriers and succeed. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Engineering and Motor Vehicle department, you will contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement initiatives, and the ongoing enhancement of the learner experience. Your knowledge and insights will help ensure our programmes remain relevant, responsive, and aligned to industry needs. You will also play an important role in maintaining high standards across teaching, learning, and assessment. Ensuring compliance with college policies, safeguarding requirements, health and safety regulations, and quality standards will be central to your responsibilities.
Through ongoing professional development and continuous improvement, you will remain at the forefront of automotive education and contribute positively to the wider college community. Most importantly, you will inspire learners from diverse backgrounds, helping them build confidence, develop valuable technical skills, and achieve their ambitions. Your commitment to learner success will directly contribute to shaping the next generation of skilled motor vehicle technicians.
