Damp Surveyor
You’ll conduct a crucial role in diagnosing, resolving reports of damp, mould and condensation within our housing stock. In addition, this role will be looking at ways to prevent damp and mould within our housing stock to help ensure that our residents live in safe, healthy, and well-maintained homes.
Your input will be central to driving forward our commitment to delivering high-quality housing services that really make a difference to the lives of our tenants.
Responsibilities
- Lead on all damp survey’s investigation in liaison with appointed contractors.
- Ensuring all projects have a formal brief, specifications, procurement plans and tender
- to deliver Team Plans, Corporate Plan.
- Take a collaborative approach to delivering support across the team/service, supporting colleagues to deliver positive outcomes beyond traditional service boundaries where required and directed by encouraging the sharing knowledge, experience and resources across teams in the council.
- Contribute and support the development and delivery of the Council’s strategies and policies as required.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills are essential, as you will liaise closely with internal and external stakeholders, providing advice and guidance.
Skills Required
Essential
- The ability to survey existing buildings to identify defects and their likely cause, negotiate solutions to problems arising during building works between vulnerable clients and contractors.
- The ability to challenge poor performance and sub-standard workmanship
- Experience of drawing up detailed schedules and specifications for building works. Particularly for damp remedials.
- Experience of drawing plans using computer aided design software.
- Experience of administering building contracts.
- Experience in work within local authority/housing association environment.
- Experience of developing relations, negotiating and working with key strategic stakeholders such as contractors.
- Good written, verbal communication skills.
- IT skills and computer literacy.
You will need to work flexibly/out of hours as a duty officer as required. Full UK driving licence.
Educational Requirements
Essential
- HNC/HND in construction or equivalent.
