Full-time

SEN Teacher - Autism Specialist (EYFS, Primary, Secondary or Post-16)

Ealing | Specialist Autism School | Full-Time | Permanent
£45,000 - £60,000 + SEN Allowance | September Start

Are you a passionate teacher looking to build a rewarding career supporting autistic children and young people to reach their full potential?

Would you like the flexibility to teach within an age phase that matches your experience and interests, from Early Years through to Post-16?

Do you thrive in an environment where therapeutic practice, specialist teaching and personalised learning come together to create exceptional outcomes?

A highly regarded specialist SEN school in North West London is seeking enthusiastic and committed Teachers to join its expanding team this September. Opportunities are available across Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form , allowing successful applicants to teach within the age group that best suits their experience and preference.

The school supports autistic pupils aged 4-19 , many of whom have additional learning needs, speech, language and communication differences, sensory processing needs and varying levels of learning disability. Every pupil follows an individualised curriculum built around their EHCP outcomes, with a strong emphasis on communication, independence, emotional regulation and preparation for adulthood.

Teaching takes place within small classes supported by experienced Teaching Assistants, enabling staff to deliver highly personalised learning and develop meaningful relationships with every pupil. The school follows evidence-based autism practice, using structured teaching approaches, visual communication systems and low-arousal environments to maximise engagement and promote independence.

Working alongside Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Specialists and experienced pastoral teams, you'll play a key role in helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally within a nurturing and ambitious learning environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCP outcomes.
  • Teaching pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a range of associated learning and communication needs.
  • Delivering engaging, structured and personalised learning using autism-specific teaching approaches.
  • Using visual supports, structured routines and alternative communication methods, including AAC where appropriate.
  • Supporting pupils to develop communication, emotional regulation, independence and social interaction.
  • Leading and working collaboratively with Teaching Assistants to provide consistently outstanding classroom support.
  • Working closely with Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists and wider multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitoring progress through ongoing assessment and adapting teaching to meet individual needs.
  • Contributing to Annual Reviews, EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
  • Building positive relationships with parents and carers to ensure consistency between home and school.
  • Promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and high expectations for every pupil.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with pupils with Autism, SEND or additional learning needs within specialist or mainstream settings.
  • A strong understanding of adaptive teaching and inclusive classroom practice.
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach to behaviour and relationship building.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who communicate in a variety of ways.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for autistic children and young people.

What the school offers:

  • Salary between £45,000 and £60,000 , depending on experience, plus SEN Allowance.
  • The opportunity to teach within your preferred age phase from Early Years through to Post-16 .
  • Outstanding specialist Autism training and continuous professional development.
  • A highly experienced multidisciplinary team including Speech & Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
  • Excellent classroom staffing ratios and well-resourced learning environments.
  • Clear progression opportunities into curriculum leadership, phase leadership and senior management.
  • A welcoming, collaborative and supportive staff team committed to achieving the very best outcomes for every pupil.

Whether you're already working within specialist education or you're a mainstream teacher looking to transition into Autism education, this is an outstanding opportunity to join one of London's most established specialist schools, where you'll receive exceptional support while making a genuine difference to the lives of autistic children and young people.
