The Opportunity
We are seeking an exceptional, passionate, and forward-thinking Business and Economics Teacher to join the founding academic team at Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City.
This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding subject specialist to contribute to the development and delivery of a high-quality Business and Economics curriculum within a new British international school. You will inspire students to understand the principles of business, economics, enterprise, and financial decision-making, whilst developing their ability to think critically, analyse evidence, and apply their knowledge to real-world contexts.
As a founding member of the academic team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the establishment of the Business and Economics curriculum, resources, schemes of work, assessment practices, and wider departmental provision as the school grows. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a coherent and ambitious learning experience for students across the relevant year groups and key stages.
The role contributes to students’ academic achievement, intellectual curiosity, and preparation for future study and employment. As a key member of the school’s founding team, you will help shape the school’s vision in alignment with the mission of Queen Elizabeth’s School, Dubai Sports City, upholding the values and legacy of our founding institution, Queen Elizabeth’s School, Barnet.

The Role
Job Title: Business and Economics Teacher
Reporting to: Head of Department / Head of Senior School
Teaching, Learning and Curriculum Development
Plan and deliver engaging, challenging, and appropriately differentiated Business and Economics lessons that inspire students and promote high levels of academic achievement.
Contribute to the development and implementation of a coherent and ambitious Business and Economics curriculum aligned with the relevant British curriculum and examination specifications.
Develop schemes of work, lesson resources, assessments, and learning materials that support students in developing secure subject knowledge and transferable skills.
Encourage students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world business and economic issues, developing their ability to analyse, evaluate, and make informed judgements.
Develop students’ understanding of key business and economic concepts, including markets, enterprise, finance, business strategy, globalisation, government policy, and economic decision-making, as appropriate to the curriculum.
Use a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with different abilities, backgrounds, and learning needs.
Integrate relevant current affairs, contemporary business examples, data, and case studies into teaching to make learning meaningful and engaging.
Develop students’ numeracy, data interpretation, problem-solving, critical thinking, and written communication skills within the subject.
Promote independent learning, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in Business and Economics beyond the classroom.
Assessment, Progress and Reporting
Plan and implement effective formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student understanding and progress.
Use assessment data to identify strengths, gaps, and areas for development and adapt teaching accordingly.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attainment and progress using the school’s assessment and management systems.
Provide constructive and timely feedback that enables students to understand how they can improve their knowledge, skills, and examination performance.
Contribute to reporting processes, parent consultations, and academic reviews as required.
Support students in preparing for internal and external assessments and examinations, ensuring they develop the knowledge, skills, and examination techniques required for success.
Contribute to the development and moderation of departmental assessments to ensure consistency and high standards.
Collaboration, Enrichment and Professional Development
Work collaboratively with colleagues within the Business and Economics department and across the wider school to support a coherent and engaging learning experience.
Contribute to the establishment and development of departmental policies, procedures, schemes of work, resources, and assessment practices as the school grows.
Support and contribute to enrichment opportunities such as enterprise activities, business competitions, economics clubs, careers events, guest speakers, and educational visits.
Develop links with the wider business community where appropriate, providing students with opportunities to understand the practical application of Business and Economics.
Contribute to cross-curricular initiatives that develop students’ financial literacy, entrepreneurship, employability, and understanding of the wider world.
Participate fully in departmental meetings, whole-school initiatives, professional development, and collaborative planning.
Stay informed about developments in Business and Economics education, curriculum requirements, examination specifications, and relevant contemporary issues.

The Person
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Business Studies, Economics Education, or a related subject.
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching Business and/or Economics, preferably within a British curriculum or international school setting.
Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the relevant British curriculum and examination specifications.
Experience teaching students across relevant secondary age groups, with experience of GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, or equivalent qualifications highly desirable.
Experience developing schemes of work, assessments, and curriculum resources.
Experience using assessment and school management systems to monitor and track student progress.
Understanding of effective differentiation and inclusive teaching strategies.
Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection within an educational setting.
