The successful candidate will work alongside the existing team to help grow, develop and innovate the service to meet modern standards of care. The successful candidate will join a team of highly dedicated medical, nursing and other professionals committed to providing a high-quality service to our patients with the brand new Maternity Theatre facilities. Main duties of the job
- You will participate in a 1:10 Consultant of the week model, including prospective cover covering emergency theatres.
- You will also participate in a 1:4 weekend elective list
- You will join a team of 22 Consultants with 4 Specialists and 22 Specialty Doctors supporting all general services of the hospital, including a busy Accident and Emergency department, Theatres covering Maternity, Trauma, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, ENT lists and Anaesthetic Clinics.
- On-call shifts provide non-residential cover of Obstetrics and emergency theatres, supervising a dedicated resident anaesthetist.
- Lead Assessments of the deteriorating patient for emergency admission to the Intensive Care Unit.
- Lead the team in managing pre and post operative theatre admissions.
- Participate in clinical audit, governance and quality improvement.
- Demonstrate evidence-based practice where appropriate.
- Undertake and participate in the appraisal process and job planning.
- Satisfy the criteria for revalidation.
- Contribute to service development in areas of special interest and expertise.
- Actively participate in continuing medical education.
- Undertake personal appraisal and job-planning as part of revalidation.
- Maintain all mandatory training requirements.
