SEN Teaching Assistant - Watford

Contract: Full-time
Pay: £85-£115 per day (Dependent on experience) Supply Desk is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in the Watford area. This rewarding role involves working alongside teaching staff and the SEN department to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of additional learning needs, helping them engage positively with education and reach their individual goals. Key Duties: - Provide targeted support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Deliver individualised support on a one-to-one basis as well as within small group settings
- Assist pupils in accessing learning activities and participating fully in classroom lessons
- Support the development of positive behaviours, emotional wellbeing, and social skills
- Observe, monitor, and contribute to records relating to pupil progress and development
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure effective support strategies are implemented
- Adapt learning approaches and interventions to meet the specific needs of individual pupils
- Foster independence, resilience, and self-confidence in learners
- Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive educational environment The Ideal Candidate Will Have: - Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs (desirable)
- A good understanding of a variety of SEN needs and approaches to supporting them effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Confidence in promoting positive behaviour and engagement
- A genuine enthusiasm for supporting children and young people's development
- A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
