Working with children and families, you’ll provide expert care that supports wellbeing and improves quality of life.

You’ll join a caring, skilled team delivering community children’s nursing services. This role focuses on supporting children and young people with complex health needs, including those requiring end of life care. You’ll build strong relationships with families and partner agencies, helping to coordinate safe, compassionate care in a range of settings.

Main duties of the job

What you’ll do:

• Assess, plan and deliver personalised care that meets each child’s needs
• Lead shifts, support colleagues and help maintain a safe environment
• Work with families, carers and professionals to coordinate care
• Recognise changes in a child’s condition and take appropriate action
• Keep clear, accurate records and follow safeguarding and safety policies

What we’re looking for:

• A registered nurse with current professional registration
• Experience working with children or people with complex health needs
• Confidence in care planning, clinical decision making and teamwork
• Strong communication skills with children, families and multi-agency partners
• A flexible approach, with a willingness to learn and develop

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Registered Nurse e.g. Child/Learning Disabilities/General
• Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable criteria

• Teaching Qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria

• Clinical skills competencies
• Knowledge of health care planning
• Familiarity and understanding of child development and complex health needs
• Good working knowledge of electronic care records

Desirable criteria

• Good understanding of the needs of children with complex health needs/life limiting conditions
• Ability to delegate duties and prioritise workload

Experience

Essential criteria

• Post Registration experience in a clinical setting
• Experience of working with children and young people with complex health needs
• Experience of working with families and carers
• Experience of multi-agency working

Desirable criteria

• Evidence of presentation and teaching/training skills
