Sarah Russell MP is looking for a compassionate, organised person who has strong communication skills and a desire to help people to join her small busy team in Congleton, Cheshire as a Caseworker.
The role will suit someone who enjoys variety, is IT literate (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, SharePoint), is naturally empathetic and able to work calmly under pressure. A strong sense of justice, an interest in politics and government and the ability to communicate clearly is essential.
Funding is available for a full-time post until March 2027. People wishing to work Part-time work will be considered. The preference is for someone who is able to work the majority of the time in the constituency office. There may be opportunities to visit the Houses of Parliament.
Training will be given, although previous experience of casework would be preferable as this is a fixed term contract.
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours, including assisting with events with the MP as requested.
Key Responsibilities
• You will manage individual cases ensuring they are logged and progressed with all identified actions taken.
• You will keep all information and records confidential and in line with data protection legislation.
• You will engage with constituents confidentially, via telephone enquiries and emails
• You will also draft replies to enquiries about Government Policy
• You will be responsible for gathering relevant information and/or evidence to progress cases accordingly.
• You will be expected to liaise with NGO’s, Government, Local Authorities and the voluntary sector as part of your day-to-day responsibilities.
• As part of a team you will be managing a large caseload of often complex, and sometimes distressing casework that you will undertake in a caring and sensitive manner.
• Attend surgeries and constituency events as part of the team.
