Assets Officer - Full Time | Derry / Londonderry
Join a leading housing organisation as an Assets Officer, playing a key role in the management and maintenance of residential properties across the North West. You'll be responsible for overseeing maintenance works, conducting property inspections, liaising with contractors and helping to ensure homes are maintained to a high standard for tenants.
Key Details:
- £17.90 per hour (£34,434 per annum equivalent)
- 12 month temporary position
- Immediate start available
- Monday to Thursday: 8:45am – 4:45pm, Friday: 8:45am – 4:30pm
- Travel throughout the North West region will be required ( Occasional out-of-hours attendance may be required in emergency situations)

About the Role
Reporting to the Assets Manager, the successful candidate will support the delivery of responsive, cyclical and planned maintenance programmes. This role involves working closely with tenants, contractors and internal teams to ensure properties are maintained to a high standard and maintenance services are delivered efficiently.
The position offers a combination of office-based work and site visits, providing an excellent opportunity for someone with a property maintenance or construction background who enjoys a varied workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a point of contact for tenants reporting repair and maintenance issues.
- Assess and diagnose maintenance defects within residential properties.
- Arrange and coordinate contractors to undertake repair works.
- Monitor contractor performance and quality of completed works.
- Conduct property inspections and assess vacant properties.
- Support planned and cyclical maintenance programmes.
- Liaise with tenants, contractors and external stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery.
- Monitor maintenance budgets and process contractor invoices.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Travel regularly to properties and sites throughout the North West region.
Criteria:
Applicants must possess one of the following:
Option 1
- HNC (Level 4) or equivalent qualification in:
- Building Surveying
- Construction
- Engineering
- Estate Management
- Or a related discipline
AND
- Minimum 1 year's relevant experience.
OR
Option 2
- Minimum 2 years' relevant experience within a property maintenance, repairs or construction management environment.
Relevant experience must include:
- Identifying and diagnosing maintenance defects.
- Coordinating or overseeing repair works.
- Resolving property maintenance issues.
In Addition, Applicants Must Have:
- Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport for business use.
- Basic Access NI check required.
