The Home
Magherafelt Manor is a beautiful and modern residential care and nursing home situated in Magherafelt, County Londonderry, providing 24hour, professional and person-centred care for older people, including those living with dementia or in need of general nursing.
We pride ourselves on our kind and caring nature and uphold the highest levels of dignity and respect, no matter what. Our teams are expertly trained to support the needs and wishes of each and every individual, and we are proud of the wonderful and calm atmosphere we have created for everybody to enjoy.
The home has the capacity for up to 64 people, across several homely units, decorated and furnished to offer a safe and comfortable home-from-home living environment for residents to enjoy. Magherafelt Manor has excellent amenities, including a café, comfortable lounges and dining spaces, enabling residents to maintain their independence as much as is possible, in the safest possible environment.
All our private, light and spacious bedrooms are fully-furnished, with the benefit of en-suite bathroom facilities. Residents are very welcome to bring their own home accessories and furniture, to personalise their space and make it their home.
We are dedicated to providing quality care for the residents living with dementia and for those who are cared for in their rooms; our whole team approach to wellbeing means that everyone feels part of our lovely, welcoming community.
About the role:
You will pride yourself on providing high-quality, person-centred care to our residents, fostering a welcoming environment where residents are treated with respect and dignity, and staff feel valued and supported. As part of our frontline team, you will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day operations of the Home, assisting with activities of daily living ensuring the wellbeing and comfort of residents. As a Care Assistant, you will also provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering meaningful relationships and promoting a sense of compassion; an advocacy for the rights and preferences of our residents.
About The Role
Main Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities, such as dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, helping them maintain a good quality of life.
- Help residents maintain independence where possible, encouraging involvement in activities.
- Assist with moving and handling residents using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Support the nursing and healthcare team by monitoring residents' well-being and reporting any changes in their health or behaviour.
- Follow care plans tailored to individual residents' needs, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and homely environment for residents.

Required Criteria
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- A good standard of oral and written English.
- A non-judgemental approach to others.
- Excellent communication skills with the compassion required to deliver high-quality care to our residents.
- Respectful to not only residents but the values and beliefs of other team members.
Desired Criteria
- Educated to QCF/ NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but not essential.
- Previous experience in Health and Social Care preferred, although not essential as full training will be provided.
