Qualified Remote/Hybrid Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner BAND 5. The Isle of Wight Talking Therapies Service are seeking applications from highly motivated individuals, to work as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner. This a permanent, full-time position. The post holder will have a recognised PWP qualification. They will conduct initial mental health assessments and deliver evidence-based low intensity interventions to clients on the Isle of Wight. This may include cognitive re-structuring, graded exposure, behavioural experiments, guided self-help, computerised CBT, and information about pharmacological treatments. This work may be via; video, telephone or face to face in a community clinic if hybrid working. They will work with people with different cultural backgrounds, disabilities and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a Talking Therapies model of delivery. Main duties of the job
Upon completion of the initial assessment the post holder will identify the mental health cluster that the client will be assigned to in accordance with the mental health clustering tool. The post holder will deliver evidence-based interventions via differing modalities, such as; a group setting, face to face, video chat and telephone. Operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, where the client has given permission. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. Manage and convey information which may be of a sensitive and/or distressing nature. Analyse and interpret patient outcome measures such as PHQ9 and GAD7 and to then administer the appropriate evidence-based intervention, monitored through caseload management. Assess clinical risk and refer to specialist mental health services as indicated autonomously if assessed as urgent, or in collaboration with the caseload manager if the risk is assessed as low but the client's needs are beyond that of brief psychological interventions. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department's referral protocols, refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or step-up the person's treatment to high intensity psychological therapy. - Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, or within a NICE evidenced psychological therapy.
- Or, Psychology degree or other relevant associated field with appropriate clinical experience in mental health disorders.
- And, Evidence based PWP qualification, preferably at post graduate certificate level, from an accredited training provider.
- Qualification in PWP caseload management/supervision from an accredited training provider
- Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health.
- Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems.
- Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post.
- If Hybrid- Car driver and owner with ability and willingness to travel to locations throughout the organisation.
- Be able to sit for prolonged periods in order to interact with patients face to face or via the telephone or at the computer.
- High level of enthusiasm and motivation for an outcomes based high volume approach with expected targets to be reached.
- Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality.
- Committed to work in a service where agreed targets are in place, with high volume of patients being seen.
- Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships and act in a professional manner related to specific ethical codes, e.g. NMC Code of Conduct, BABCP Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
- Ability to use clinical supervision positively and effectively.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Able to be self-reflective.
- Able to work under pressure, and be able to organise diary to suit the demands of hi-volume/ low intensity approach.
- Ability to set deadlines and work under own initiative.
- Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the needs of the service.
- Computer literate, able to learn new computer systems in a timely manner and to support patients in the use of E-technologies.
- Understands the need for demonstrating clinical outcomes.
