0.4 FTE Food Technology Teacher

Required to start as soon as possible. The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding and enthusiastic 0.4 FTE Teacher of Food Technology to join our committed and highly successful team. The successful candidate will have drive, vision, resilience, energy and a passion for enabling young people with special educational needs to achieve their full potential. This post is based at The Oaks Secondary School, a generic special school for pupils with moderate, severe, or profound and multiple learning difficulties, and Autism Spectrum Conditions. The school has been judged Outstanding by Ofsted in its last four inspections. The post holder will lead and coordinate Food Technology and will also have the ability to teach other curriculum areas to meet the needs of the school. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality teaching and learning, assessing and reporting on pupil progress, working collaboratively with support staff and external agencies, and contributing to the wider life of the school. The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post. We are looking for a teacher who:
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status.
• Has a strong understanding of effective teaching and learning strategies.
• Can inspire and motivate learners with a range of special educational needs.
• Has excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Works effectively as part of a multi-professional team.
• Is committed to continual professional development.
• Has a clear understanding of the needs of pupils with SEND. Experience of teaching pupils with special educational needs, teaching Food Technology at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, and delivering Entry Level or equivalent accreditation would be advantageous.
