CMAC is a world-class centre of excellence for medicines manufacturing research, training and translation. Working in partnership with industry and academia, CMAC aims to transform the development and manufacture of medicines through high-quality research, skills development, translation and access to world-leading facilities and infrastructure. CMAC is seeking to appoint a highly motivated Nanomedicines Scientist to join its Facility team. The Facility provides scientific, technical and operational expertise to support collaborative research and the delivery of projects for academic and industrial clients.

The successful candidate will plan, manage and execute nanomedicine formulation, manufacture and characterisation activities. This may include work involving lipid nanoparticles, liposomes, polymeric nanoparticles and other advanced drugdelivery systems for small molecules, biological therapeutics and nucleic-acid-based medicines.

You will lead the delivery of defined short- to medium-duration projects, working directly with clients and collaborators to understand their technical requirements, develop appropriate experimental plans, interpret results and communicate project outcomes. You will also support senior colleagues and academic specialists in delivering larger or more complex multidisciplinary programmes.

Working within the CMAC National Facility team, you will have access to specialist academic expertise, including expertise within Professor Yvonne Perrie’s research group. You will help translate this knowledge into robust experimental methods, technical solutions and accessible Facility service offerings. You will contribute to the development and implementation of formulation and analytical methods, standard operating procedures and reporting approaches. You will also take technical ownership of selected equipment and support its effective operation, maintenance and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will have relevant experience in nanomedicine formulation and characterisation, excellent experimental and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders from industry and academia. You will be capable of working independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary project teams. To independently plan, manage and execute nanomedicine formulation, process-development and characterisation activities within the CMAC Facility.

The post-holder will lead the delivery of short- to mediumduration projects for external and internal clients, providing scientific input from project planning through to experimental execution, data interpretation and reporting. They will support senior colleagues in delivering larger multidisciplinary programmes and will work with CMAC academic specialists to access and translate relevant research expertise. The post-holder will contribute to the development of new Facility capabilities and service offerings, including experimental methods, standard operating procedures, reporting templates and equipment workflows. They will take technical ownership of selected specialist equipment and support the training and development of other Facility users.

An essential part of the role will be maintaining accurate experimental records and promoting high standards of health, safety, quality and laboratory practice.
