Practice Facilitator - Preceptorship (Nursing)

Job summary
The Practice Facilitator posts has been created to augment the current preceptorship team to support the preceptees on acute in-patient mental health wards. In addition, these roles will support the Making Room for Dignity project and the new staff coming to work in the new services. The post holder will act as a preceptor to a number of preceptees to provide support and assist with action planning. The Practice Facilitator (Preceptorship) role is designed to influence the quality of the clinical learning environment by providing support, educational input and development for newly appointed (Band 5) nursing and Allied Health Professional (AHP's), the majority of whom are newly qualified. The post holder(s) must have experience in supporting staff and students in development and have evidence of training in practice supervisor, practice assessor and clinical supervisor. Main duties of the job
The Practice Facilitator (Preceptorship) role will undertake the role of preceptor for a number of newly qualified nurses in the acute In-patient setting as per policy and national guidance. The Practice Facilitator (Preceptorship) role, will predominantly work in acute mental health wards (Hartington Unit / Radbourne Unit) to support predominantly newly qualified, new to acute services, return to practice, apprentices, Internationally Educated Nurses and new staff coming into the new Making Room for Dignity services. Working with other Practice Facilitators and established teams, the role aims to enhance the quality of the preceptees experience and positively contribute to the future and retention of our workforce. Assist in the planning; development and implementation of the Trust's post -registration preceptorship education and workforce development strategies. The Practice Facilitator (Preceptorship) will provide support, education, and development for preceptees and preceptors. The post holder may work in the ward environment in a supervisory capacity alongside new staff, modelling the way/ skills in clinical practice areas. - Lead / Co-lead on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a robust preceptorship program to support nurses and allied health professional.
- Lead / co lead and facilitate on the preceptorship forums to ensure high quality learning.
- Ensure the experience of staff is of the highest quality and enables the greatest benefit from the individual clinical learning experience.
- Act as the role of preceptor to an identified number of preceptees in acute inpatient setting.
- Teach and provide clinical support in collaboration with other offerings and leads.
