Operations Manager, Bolsover Chesterfield

Ideally, we’re looking for someone based locally to the Chesterfield area, however we are open to considering outstanding candidates from further afield. The successful candidate can be hybrid provided they are willing to travel regularly to client sites and company head office.

Location : Bolsover, Chesterfield (Hybrid working is Considered)

Salary : Up to £45,000 DOE + Car Allowance/Company Car and company bonus

Hours : Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm- Flexible working is essential for this role, as it involves regular travel to client sites across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage critical environment cleaning, installation and passive fire protection projects from inception through to completion.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
• Coordinate resources and schedules to maximise operational efficiency.
• Monitor project performance and proactively address any operational challenges.
• Manage and support a team of approximately 25-30 Technicians, Project Leads and Team Leads.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and development opportunities.
• Drive a positive safety culture and promote best practice across all operational activities.
• Ensure effective workforce planning and resource allocation.
• Maintain contract profitability through proactive project management.
• Conduct cost analysis, budget reviews and margin tracking.
• Support payment applications and work closely with senior leadership on financial performance.
• Assist with the development of efficient costing models alongside the Operations Director and Sales team.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance processes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and client requirements.
• Carry out audits, inspections and performance reviews.
• Maintain accurate project documentation using company management systems, including OneTrace.
• Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, engineers and suppliers.
• Oversee subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with company standards and safety protocols.
• Support the successful delivery of projects across the UK and Europe.

Essential Experience

• Proven Operations Management experience.
• Experience overseeing logistics, project delivery or field-based operational teams.
• Strong people management and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercially aware with experience managing budgets and project profitability.
• We’re looking for a strong operational leader with experience managing field-based teams within construction, engineering, facilities, logistics or related sectors.

Desirable Experience & Qualifications

• SMSTS qualification or similar.
• Construction site experience.
• Knowledge of passive fire protection, critical environments, facilities management or related industries.
• Experience using project management and compliance software systems.
• Strong focus on quality, compliance and continuous improvement.
