Working closely with the Headteacher and school leadership team, you will be responsible for carrying out routine maintenance, overseeing site security and supporting the smooth operation of the school's facilities.

This role would suit someone who is organised, self-motivated and able to manage a varied workload while responding positively to the changing needs of the school.

Premises Team

The premises team is responsible for ensuring the school site remains safe, secure and well presented throughout the year. As Caretaker, you will work independently while liaising closely with school leaders and external contractors to ensure maintenance issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Opening and locking the school buildings each day.

• Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs.

• Undertaking regular health and safety inspections.

• Ensuring classrooms, corridors and outdoor areas remain safe and tidy.

• Monitoring heating, lighting and basic building services.

• Preparing halls and classrooms for school events and assemblies.

• Supervising contractors working on site.

• Carrying out basic decorating, plumbing and maintenance tasks where appropriate.

• Managing deliveries and moving furniture and equipment when required.

• Maintaining external areas including pathways, playgrounds and outdoor spaces.

• Reporting maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors.

• Supporting emergency procedures and ensuring compliance with site safety regulations.

Requirements

• Previous caretaking, maintenance or facilities experience is desirable.
