Delamode Nidd Ltd are recruiting for an International Freight Forwarding Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a long-term career within the logistics and transport industry.

£20,000 a year

The pay is £20,000 - £23,000 depending on experience

Monday - Friday 09:00 -17:30 1 hour unpaid lunch break.

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Freight Forwarder, you will play an important role within the European Traffic Department. Your training will include:

• Planning and coordinating time-critical transport movements across road, air, and sea
• Learning customs procedures to support the smooth movement of goods
• Developing an understanding of sales pricing, cost management, and profitability
• Communicating with clients, suppliers, and transport contractors
• Delivering outstanding customer service in a fast-paced environment

Most of your apprenticeship will be spent working alongside experienced colleagues, gaining hands-on industry experience while studying towards your qualification.

Entry Requirements :

• GCSE in maths and English at Grade 4/C or above
• A-Level or BTEC qualification (any subject)

Other requirements :

• Must live within a commutable distance of the workplace
• A full driving licence and access to a motor vehicle are essential due to the location of the site
• Ideal for someone who has recently finished college and is seeking a long-term career opportunity instead of university

What you'll learn

• Select freight forwarding services based on customer requirements, taking into account country specific factors, delivery times and modes.
• Use generic or bespoke ICT systems in order to enter and monitor data on importing or exporting goods.
• Book, plan and monitor international shipments, using manual or ICT systems, in accordance with the rules and regulations that apply to that area of the world and to the goods consigned.
• Prepare a customs declaration to a national standard, or give custom clearance instructions to a third party.
• Use data systems to submit the information required by customs authorities as part of the management of the international movement of goods.
• Produce freight costings and invoices in line with Incoterms, customer profile or sales contract.
• Identify and source data from customers, systems or colleagues.
• Identify and resolve problems in line with responsibilities.
• Create and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Adapt communication based on the situation and the audience.
• Identify problems outside of limits of responsibility and escalate within company policy.
• Communicate in writing, preparing communications on technical matters.
• Communicate with others verbally, including internal and external customers.
