Are you an experienced Compliance Business Partner, Insurance Compliance Adviser, Compliance Consultant or Compliance Officer looking for a commercially focused compliance opportunity within the UK insurance sector?

We are recruiting an experienced Compliance Business Partner to support a UK Retail Insurance business of approximately 800 colleagues. This is a genuinely business-facing insurance compliance role , working closely with business leaders, operational teams and senior stakeholders to provide practical regulatory advice, manage compliance risk and support positive customer outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an insurance compliance professional with strong knowledge of FCA regulations, ICOBS, SM&CR, Consumer Duty, conduct risk and regulatory risk who wants to work closely with the business rather than in a traditional policy or compliance monitoring environment.

The successful Insurance Compliance Business Partner will provide practical, commercially balanced regulatory advice and help stakeholders understand and embed regulatory requirements into everyday business decisions, customer journeys, operational processes and business change.

The Role – Compliance Business Partner

As a Compliance Business Partner , you will act as a trusted regulatory and compliance adviser to stakeholders across the UK Retail Insurance business.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing practical and commercially balanced advice on FCA regulatory requirements, insurance compliance and emerging regulatory risks .

• Building strong relationships with business leaders, senior stakeholders and operational teams.

• Acting as a trusted insurance compliance adviser and business partner across the organisation.

• Supporting compliance governance, conduct risk management and regulatory oversight .

• Advising stakeholders on Consumer Duty, customer outcomes and regulatory risk .

• Providing guidance on FCA compliance requirements within retail insurance .

• Delivering thematic reviews, compliance deep dives and assurance activity.

• Reviewing customer journeys, customer communications, documentation, policies and procedures.

• Supporting acquisitions, integrations, strategic projects and wider business change and regulatory change .

• Helping stakeholders identify, assess and manage regulatory and compliance risks .

• Translating complex FCA regulations into clear, practical and actionable business advice.

• Delivering compliance training, regulatory reporting and stakeholder communications.

• Identifying opportunities to strengthen governance, compliance controls, risk management and customer outcomes .

• Providing constructive regulatory challenge while maintaining a collaborative and solutions-focused approach.

• Supporting the business in embedding regulatory requirements into day-to-day operations and decision-making.

Essential Insurance Compliance Experience

To be successful as a Compliance Business Partner , you will have:

• Strong knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements within the UK insurance sector .

• Detailed working knowledge of ICOBS (Insurance: Conduct of Business Sourcebook) .

• Strong knowledge of SM&CR (Senior Managers and Certification Regime) .

• Experience interpreting FCA regulation and insurance regulatory requirements and translating them into practical business advice.

• Experience assessing regulatory risk, compliance risk and conduct risk .

• Experience supporting business decision-making from a regulatory and compliance perspective.

• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.

• Confidence engaging with business leaders and senior stakeholders.

• The ability to provide constructive challenge while maintaining strong working relationships.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• The ability to simplify complex FCA regulatory and insurance compliance requirements for non-compliance stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and organisational skills.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• Experience reviewing qualitative and quantitative information to identify regulatory risks and compliance issues .

• A practical, commercially aware and solutions-focused approach to insurance compliance .

Desirable Compliance Qualifications & Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• CII qualification or equivalent insurance qualification.

• ICA qualification or equivalent compliance qualification.

• Knowledge of Lloyd's regulatory requirements and London Market insurance processes .

• Experience working within the London Market insurance sector .

• Experience supporting insurance acquisitions, integrations and business change programmes .

• Experience designing, reviewing or assessing customer journeys and customer communications .

• Experience working with Consumer Duty and customer outcome requirements .

• Knowledge of conduct risk, regulatory risk, compliance monitoring and assurance frameworks.
