A highly regarded ASD specialist school in Maidenhead is looking for a compassionate and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant to support children with Autism, sensory processing difficulties, communication needs and complex learning disabilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates and aspiring professionals who are considering a career in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Counselling, Mental Health or SEN .
You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils develop their communication, emotional regulation, social skills, independence and confidence. You'll work closely with experienced teaching and therapeutic staff and gain valuable insight into how specialist strategies and interventions can support children with complex needs.
The school offers an engaging and supportive environment where you can develop your understanding of Autism, behaviour, sensory needs, emotional wellbeing and therapeutic approaches while making a genuine difference to pupils' lives.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree or background in Psychology, Counselling, Education or a related field
- A genuine interest in Autism, mental health and therapeutic support
- A patient, empathetic and resilient approach
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to build positive relationships with children
- Previous experience with SEN or Autism is desirable but not essential
