Bank Nurse | Health & Social Care | Excellent Opportunity

£22 per hour
Temporary

Job Overview :
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse to join our healthcare team at our nursing home for elderly residents, specialising in long-term conditions and end-of-life care. As an Nurse, you will work under the supervision of a Nurse or other senior healthcare professionals, supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care to residents with complex and long-term health conditions, as well as those requiring palliative and end-of-life care. The role involves providing direct patient care, assisting in assessments, administering treatments, and ensuring the safety, comfort, and dignity of residents in line with NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) guidelines.

About The Role

Key Responsibilities
As an Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to elderly residents with long-term conditions, complex needs, and those in the later stages of life. You will work closely with the healthcare team to ensure that residents receive appropriate care that meets their physical, emotional, and psychological needs. You will assist in the assessment and development of individualised care plans, ensuring that these plans address the specific needs of each resident, particularly those requiring palliative and end-of-life care.

A significant part of the role involves medication administration, ensuring that prescribed treatments are followed and documented according to NMC standards, while monitoring for any side effects or reactions. You will also be responsible for conducting clinical procedures, such as wound care, catheter care, and blood pressure monitoring. As part of your role, you will assist with the management of long-term conditions, such as diabetes, COPD, dementia, and heart disease, while ensuring that residents are comfortable and their dignity is upheld at all times.

You will also be responsible for providing education and support to residents and their families, offering information about managing chronic conditions, care options, and advanced care planning. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, physiotherapists, and social workers, to ensure that holistic care is provided.

Your practice will be fully aligned with NMC guidelines, and you will ensure that all care practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements. You will also engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to stay up-to-date with the latest best practices in long-term care and end-of-life care.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in a care home, hospital, or community-based care environment, is highly preferred. A background in working with elderly residents and those with long-term conditions, dementia, or palliative care needs is particularly advantageous. Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, as well as excellent communication skills, are essential for working effectively with residents, families, and the healthcare team. The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and demonstrate an understanding of NMC guidelines is also required.

Key Personal Attributes
To excel in this role, you should be compassionate, empathetic, and maintain a patient-centred approach to care. You will need to be attentive to the complex and often changing needs of elderly residents, ensuring that their dignity, comfort, and well-being are always prioritised. Strong attention to detail, high clinical standards, and an ability to collaborate effectively with the healthcare team are crucial. You should be adaptable, resilient, and able to manage the challenges that arise in a long-term care setting, including supporting families through end-of-life transitions. A commitment to continuous professional development and ethical care practices is essential.

Working Conditions
The role may involve working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and nights, depending on the needs of the nursing home. You will be based in a care home environment and may be required to provide care to residents in both the early and advanced stages of long-term conditions, as well as those at the end of life. The role demands flexibility and the ability to respond to the evolving care needs of residents.

This job description outlines the core duties and responsibilities of the position, but it is not exhaustive. Duties may evolve as per the needs of the organisation.
