- Work in close conjunction with Matron / Senior ward team / Practice Educator/ Learning Development Teams
- Acts as a role model and resource, providing information and promoting high standards of patient care, whilst working closely with other professionals.
- Monitors and maintains acceptable standards of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.

- Keeps abreast of service and policy developments. Promotes the use of Trust policies, protocols and guidelines and maintains national and local standards pertaining to the clinical area, taking remedial action as appropriate and reporting deficits to Matron as appropriate.
- Promotes clinical excellence through initiating & participating in setting, maintaining and monitoring standards of care within a clinical governance framework.
- Participate in both clinical and organisational audit to continually evaluate the effectiveness of the service
Qualifications and Further Training

- Registered Nurse with honours degree
- Significant experience of working in a Band 6 position
- Evidence of managing acute care patients / experience Relevant Teaching course
- Recognised Leadership Course
- Recognised Management Course

- Demonstrable clinical and managerial experience in a senior position
- Proven track record of leadership
- Evidence of clinical competence and regular clinical practice
