Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Gateshead

A specialist school in Gateshead is looking for a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
This position is ideal for graduates considering careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health Services, Social Work, or Special Educational Needs.
You'll gain first-hand experience implementing behaviour strategies, supporting emotional regulation, and helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Delivering tailored 1:1 support
- Assisting with small group interventions
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and social development
- Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning
- Encouraging confidence and independence
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Psychology degree or similar qualification
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, resilient and empathetic nature
- A genuine interest in child development and mental health

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
