About the job

We're hiring a tree surgery ground worker to join our experienced arboriculture (Arb) team in Shropshire, covering Shrewsbury, Telford, Oswestry, Bridgnorth, Ludlow, Market Drayton and surrounding areas . This is a part-time, 2 days a week position on a day-rate, labour-only sub-contractor basis — rate negotiable depending on experience. Our client base spans both domestic and commercial tree work, so no two days look the same.

Location

Based in Shropshire, working across Shrewsbury, Telford, Oswestry, Ludlow, Church Stretton, Bridgnorth, Whitchurch, Market Drayton and Newport.

Pay & Hours

• 2 days per week (day rate, negotiable on experience)
• Labour-only subcontractor basis
• Weekly electronic payment

Essential Skills

• Motivated, enthusiastic, and takes pride in safe, efficient work
• Strong communicator and team player
• Non-smoker/non-vaper
• Experience in ground-based arb or grounds work — e.g. garden work, hedge cutting, groundsman duties

Essential Qualifications

• NPTC Level 2 Award in Ground Based Chainsaw Operations (units 201, 202 & 203) — or CS30/CS31 equivalents — required
• NPTC Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of a Manually Fed Wood Chipper — held, or willing to obtain before starting
• Emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry (EFAW+F) — held, or willing to obtain before starting

Ideal for Arb students and trainees

This role suits anyone currently studying arboriculture — including students at Walford College, Reaseheath College, Northop College or Myerscough College — looking to gain hands-on ground crew experience with a professional tree surgery team, with genuine potential to progress into a tree climber role.
