Job summary
This post has arisen as a fixed term opportunity to cover maternity leave and will be an excellent development opportunity for those wishing to develop their leadership and management skills. The post holder has a key role leadership and management role at a senior level within the QEW team. Reporting to the Matron, the post holder will provide specialist skills and knowledge to support the delivery of Gynaecology care within the division. Provide a visible presence in clinical areas and be accessible to patients/families and staff, ensuring patients and staff have the opportunity to seek information, help and support or to communicate problematic or celebratory issues. Ensure all staff are compliant with corporate and clinical mandatory training. S/he will act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all timesThe role will include effective leadership, the setting, monitoring and maintenance of professional standards, collaborative working, and contribution to the leadership of thenursing contribution to clinical effectiveness at department level.Lead by example and act as a positive role model for all staff taking responsibility for ownprofessional development.Deliver and devise bespoke training programmes to clinical staff.Promote lifelong learning, ensuring all staff have access to continuing professional, development opportunities. Represent the team at professional and academic forums as required.Advise and support the department/divisional management/ multidisciplinary teams with guideline development and policy implementation.Maintain robust data collection to support the evidence of achieving standards and actionplans, utilising relevant local, divisional and Trust IT systems as required.Participate in multidisciplinary and in service training, in particular mandatory training.Contribute to the management of pay and non-pay resources to meet the financial duties and targets of the directorate.With the senior nursing team identify equipment priorities to support the care of patients and safety of their physical environment, undertaking risk assessments to evidence short falls.Assist the Matron with specific skills development and/or Practice Based Seminars, as agreed with Lead NurseAssist in developing and establishing systems to capture education and training activitieswithin areas of responsibility.Develop and distribute educational material to support staff in practice.Ensure personal, peer support and clinical supervision needs are met.Act as a mentor for nursing and support staff as appropriate to role.Advise on the specific needs of the clinical service in the specialist area and contribute to workforce plans.
