Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic

Waste Coordinator to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

Role Purpose: Ensuring waste segregation on site, coordinating waste collections and exchanges, liaising with Logistics and Environmental Sustainability personnel to ensure a smooth waste management process, ensuring compliance with Waste and Environmental Protection (Duty of Care) regulations as well as site procedures surrounding waste management.

What you'll be doing

• Operate and maintain the site waste compound, including telehandler operations, and

coordinating waste collections and skip exchanges

• Provide advice and support to operational teams on waste management related matters
• Maintain relationships with regulators, clients and subcontractors
• Maintain relationships with local stakeholders
• Support in the investigation and reporting of incidents to the Environment and Sustainability Manager regarding waste management
• Ensure on site compliance with waste and duty of care legislation and coach teams in applying controls and mitigations.
• Ensure implementation of the project waste management systems on project sites
• Receive notification of changes to standards and legislation and where applicable recommend changes to systems and processes
• Support and conduct audit and assurance activities including facilitating external audits by clients and certification bodies
• Support regular compliance inspections of the site works
• Assist in the development and production of key performance indicators and management reports
• Support training & development of junior staff
• Other duties as required

Who we're looking for

• Strong knowledge of waste management issues
• Practical experience and knowledge of waste legislation
• Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
• Understanding of the Construction operating environment
• Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
• Good interpersonal skills
• Trained and competent telehandler driver (e.g. CPCS A17 Course)
• ISEP (IEMA) Foundation Certificate in Sustainability and Environmental Management, or equivalvent
• CSCS Competency Card
