Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic
Waste Coordinator to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Role Purpose: Ensuring waste segregation on site, coordinating waste collections and exchanges, liaising with Logistics and Environmental Sustainability personnel to ensure a smooth waste management process, ensuring compliance with Waste and Environmental Protection (Duty of Care) regulations as well as site procedures surrounding waste management.
What you'll be doing
- Operate and maintain the site waste compound, including telehandler operations, and
coordinating waste collections and skip exchanges
- Provide advice and support to operational teams on waste management related matters
- Maintain relationships with regulators, clients and subcontractors
- Maintain relationships with local stakeholders
- Support in the investigation and reporting of incidents to the Environment and Sustainability Manager regarding waste management
- Ensure on site compliance with waste and duty of care legislation and coach teams in applying controls and mitigations.
- Ensure implementation of the project waste management systems on project sites
- Receive notification of changes to standards and legislation and where applicable recommend changes to systems and processes
- Support and conduct audit and assurance activities including facilitating external audits by clients and certification bodies
- Support regular compliance inspections of the site works
- Assist in the development and production of key performance indicators and management reports
- Support training & development of junior staff
- Other duties as required
Who we're looking for
- Strong knowledge of waste management issues
- Practical experience and knowledge of waste legislation
- Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
- Understanding of the Construction operating environment
- Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
- Good interpersonal skills
- Trained and competent telehandler driver (e.g. CPCS A17 Course)
- ISEP (IEMA) Foundation Certificate in Sustainability and Environmental Management, or equivalvent
- CSCS Competency Card
