Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a member of the newly created CYP ARFID multidisciplinary team (MDT) and have the support of other team members in the management of these cases. The post holders role will include working in outpatient clinics across the community. The post holder will lead the nutritional assessment and dietetic management of CYP with ARFID within the MDT. The post holder will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings as well as external meetings with stakeholders in relation to improved patient care. The post holder will be required to work jointly across sites to assess and support CYP with ARFID.

Specialist Dietitian in CYP eating disorders

Job overview : This is an exciting opportunity for a senior dietitian to join our newly commissioned ARFID pathway.The post holder will be required to work jointly across community sites to assess and support CYP with ARFID. The post holder will be a member of the newly created ARFID multidisciplinary team (MDT) and have the support of well establised core CYP CEDS.The post holder will be expected to attend and participate in MDT team meetings as well as external meetings with stakeholders in relation to improved patient care. The post holder will utilise the highest level of interpersonal and communication skills when assessing CYP with ARFID and collaboratively work with both the young person and their care givers and the MDT for a timely, appropriate plan to meet the needs of this client group. This role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by providing dietetic specific expertise within the NELFT eating disorder service. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to ensure services run smoothly and efficiently.

Main duties of the job:
  • To work with the multidisciplinary team in assessing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating a programme of care for service users with ARFID.
  • To manage a service user caseload with the support of the multidisciplinary ARFID team.
  • To provide specialist evidence based dietetic service for CYP with a diagnosis of ARFID and from this formulate a treatment plan.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload, prioritising tasks effectively, and ensuring deadlines are met. They will be expected to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to high standards. The role may involve working across multiple sites and requires excellent communication and organisational skills.

To counsel, educate and review CYP with ARFID who have been referred for dietary intervention and use appropriate language and education tools to meet the service user needs and requirements.To ensure that dietary recommendations are communicated by utilizing the highest level of interpersonal skills to all members of the team and incorporated in the service user’s overall package of care.To provide clinical support to the MDT and other health professionals by maintaining effective communication.To develop relevant evidence based written information for CYP with ARFID and health care professionals and to review this at agreed intervals.To lead on the continuing development of a specialist dietetic service with ARFID pathway, providing expert advice and guidance for other healthcare professionals.To attend appropriate MDT meetings to provide expert advice to clinicians regarding the progression of nutrition support which is evidence based. This will involve nutritional assessment to include calculation of nutritional requirements based on the interpretation of biochemistry, anthropometry, clinical condition and other physical parameters.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London
(B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, CEME) This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941 p.a. pro rata for part time).
