Band 2 roles are not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa routes.
We are looking for a motivated and caring Ward Assistant to join our dedicated team within the Plastic Surgery and Burns Service. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in supporting patient care by helping to maintain a safe, welcoming and well-organised ward environment. Working alongside nursing, clinical and support staff, you will contribute to delivering a high standard of service for patients, relatives and visitors. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Part-time, Permanent
- You will be based at The Glasgow Royal Infirmary
- Working Pattern: 5-hour shifts over 4 days
Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part-time hours.
Key responsibilities:
- Support the ward team by maintaining a clean, safe and organised environment for patients, visitors and staff
- Coordinate and monitor ward support services including cleaning, catering and minor maintenance requirements
- Assist with patient meal services, ensuring dietary requirements and nutritional needs are supported appropriately
- Welcome, assist and provide information to patients, relatives and visitors within the ward environment
- Support stock control, ordering, receipt and storage of ward supplies and equipment
- Carry out basic administrative duties including answering telephones, taking messages and organising documentation
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote patient comfort, safety and positive patient experiences
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues
- Basic IT and word processing skills with the ability to use electronic systems and maintain accurate records
- Previous experience of working with the public in a customer focused environment
- Experience in healthcare, housekeeping, cleaning or a similar support role is desirable
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively within a busy ward setting
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexible, approachable and compassionate with a commitment to delivering high quality support services and patient care
