USystems is seeking a proactive and hands-on Industrial Engineer to support its Make-to-Order (MTO) and Engineer-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing operations.
The successful candidate will act as the link between Engineering and Operations, ensuring technical data released to manufacturing is accurate, controlled, manufacturable, and aligned with production capabilities.
The role is focused on practical implementation and problem solving. A significant proportion of time will be spent supporting production teams, driving continuous improvement, industrialising new products, managing engineering changes, and improving the integrity of technical manufacturing data.

Key Responsibilities
Manufacturing Support
Provide day-to-day engineering support to Production teams.
Resolve manufacturing issues impacting Safety, Quality, Cost, or Delivery.
Support supervisors and operators in identifying process improvements.
Lead root cause investigations relating to technical and manufacturing issues.
Drive corrective and preventive actions to improve operational performance.
Maintain a strong shop-floor presence and provide hands-on support where required.
Product Industrialization
Support the industrialisation of new and modified products.
Ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently, safely, and repeatedly.
Define manufacturing routings and build sequences.
Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions.
Support production trials and process validation activities.
Identify manufacturing risks before product release.
Engineering Change Management
Manage the implementation of Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
Assess the manufacturing impact of design changes.
Coordinate change implementation between Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, Quality, and Planning.
Ensure engineering changes are effectively communicated to all stakeholders.
Minimise disruption to production through controlled change deployment.
Monitor and report engineering change effectiveness.
Technical Data Management
Ensure Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, drawings, manufacturing instructions, and technical records remain accurate and controlled.
Verify consistency between CAD models, production drawings, CAM data, and manufacturing documentation.
Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of Product Data Management (PDM) and ERP systems.
Establish and maintain robust document control practices.
Support technical audits related to product and manufacturing data.
Drive improvements in data accuracy and governance.
CAD/CAM Manufacturing Readiness
Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure CAD output is suitable for manufacturing.
Resolve discrepancies between CAD models, drawings, and CAM programmes.
Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews.
Ensure released designs are production-ready before entering manufacturing.
Support the development of manufacturing standards and best practices.
Continuous Improvement
Lead shop-floor improvement activities.
Conduct process mapping and waste reduction exercises.
Improve manufacturing flow, productivity, and efficiency.
Identify bottlenecks and recommend corrective actions.
Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives across operations.
Standardise processes and best practices.
Production Performance & Capacity
Monitor manufacturing performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Support labour and capacity planning activities.
Analyse production data to identify trends and constraints.
Develop practical solutions to improve throughput and delivery performance.
Skills & Experience
Degree or equivalent experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven experience within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, and production workflows.
Experience supporting Make-to-Order (MTO) and/or Engineer-to-Order (ETO) manufacturing operations would be a plus.
Ability to analyse and resolve discrepancies between CAD models, drawings, CAM outputs, and manufacturing documentation.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
Experience working with ERP, PDM and/or PLM systems.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with both Engineering and Operations teams.
Willingness to spend the majority of working time supporting activities directly on the shop floor.
Experience within sheet metal fabrication, painting, assembly, or electro-mechanical manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of CAD and CAM systems.
Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Edge, or similar software.
Understanding of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA).
Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
Experience performing time studies, process mapping and capacity analysis.
Experience implementing engineering data governance and document control processes.
Knowledge of configuration management principles in an ETO environment.
